LANDSCAPE DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION – PORT MACQUARIE, MID NORTH COAST, NSW

Well designed outdoor spaces and greenery boost a home’s value.

Signature Landscapes has always known the value of a well-designed outdoor space that enhances your lifestyle and, at the same time, adds significant dollar value to your home.

The following headline findings come from Australia’s first Plant Value Report, conducted by Greener Spaces Better Places in partnership with Domain. (October 2025). If you would like a copy of the report contact Signature Landscapes. It makes for good reading.

“From indoor pot plants to a landscaped backyard, greenery has become one of the simplest ways to lift a home’s price, appeal and buyer interest – while enhancing everyday liveability. Across the nation, homes *marketed with greenery consistently achieve higher prices, attract more buyers, and often sell faster.  In an era defined by affordability constraints, limited space and growing environmental awareness, the presence of plants – whether it’s a lush courtyard, leafy balcony or established garden– has become a quiet marker of both lifestyle and value.

  • Houses with greenery achieve 17.4% higher prices …  attract 7% more buyer views, and spend less time on the market.
  • Regional houses see the strongest relative uplift – up to 24% – where outdoor living and established gardens define value.
  • Greenery adds measurable market power. It’s more than visual appeal… it’s a signal of investment, quality and lifestyle appeal that buyers are willing to pay for.

Domain chief of research and economics Dr Nicola Powell, “I do think the green premium is becoming more important, and greenery in general is becoming a far greater priority for prospective buyers,” she says. “We already know that adding plants to a home is good for wellbeing and mental health, but greenery also enhances aesthetic appeal and feeds into the liveability of a home.”

Powell says that, as housing footprints shrink and affordability tightens, greenery is becoming an attainable and accessible way to elevate our lifestyles.

“Buyers look at homes emotionally. They picture having birthdays there, and 20-year wedding anniversaries and graduations… buyers are willing to fork out about 20 per cent more for styled properties with landscaping, and plants are now a crucial ingredient for nabbing premium prices.” Georgi Bates of Cunningham Real Estate

The Plant Value Report conclusion: A greener home is a more valuable one. Across every market, price bracket and property type, the evidence is clear: homes that feature greenery outperform. From a single courtyard to a full garden, greenery enhances both liveability and market strength. As homes evolve – with smaller lots, higher density and growing lifestyle expectations – plants remain one of the simplest and most rewarding ways to enrich investment, atmosphere and value. Greenery is more than beauty, it’s belonging, balance and value, grown from the ground up.

Tyson Owen, landscape designer, Signature Landscapes: “The beauty of a well  thought out landscape design is it can incorporate everything on your ‘wish list’. With the ‘plan’ you have helped evolve you can undertake the work at your own pace as time and budget allows…. knowing that everything you do to improve your outdoor spaces will only get better as plants grow and flower. Then, when it’s time to sell your property you will be amazed at how much value you have been adding to your home…  which potential buyers will certainly appreciate.”

*Plant Value Report  …. analysis was conducted using sold property listing data captured between September 2024 and August 2025. Each property listing was reviewed for mentions of specific greenery keywords within the description. Listings were then grouped into two categories, those with greenery features and those without, to compare median performance across each metric.
