LANDSCAPE DESIGN – INITIAL ONSITE CONSULTATION, PORT MACQUARIE & THE MID NORTH COAST OF NSW
The first step to your new landscaped garden and outdoor areas is a consultation with an experienced landscape designer to discuss your ‘wish list’*. Ideally onsite. Or, if not practical to meet at the residence, we can design remotely if you can provide a plan of your property which outlines dwellings, permanent structures and levels. The initial onsite consultation is not just to be able to provide a quote. It is the start to get your ideas for the outdoor spaces of your home in a cohesive document.
Whether it is for your new home or an existing garden or outdoor spaces in need of a refresh or major makeover a landscape design consultation plants the seeds for success,
Typically allow 90 minutes face-to-face time. At the consultation you will discuss with the landscape designer what you want to achieve with your space. What you think isn’t currently working. What you want to change or incorporate. It’s your ‘wish list’*. What are your absolute must haves? What’s possible? During the consultation you will get some practical advice – landscape designer (Tyson Owen) is also a qualified builder.
What’s your budget? You may have a ‘champagne wish list’ but only a ‘beer budget’.
That’s why a consultation is the start of the design process. We’ll chat about what you want to achieve and some ‘ball park’ costs. An onsite consultation is the way to get your ideas into a working document so you can clearly see a vision for your outdoor spaces. You will also receive some practical advice on what needs to be done in which order so you can plan your landscaping in stages to suit your timing and budget You may want to undertake the work yourself. Or part of the work.
Once we have concluded the onsite consultation what next? We will get back to you with a ‘mud map’ of your outdoor spaces with detailed notes and what would be practical to construct and plant into the designated areas. Your follow-up report may also include the types of plants that may be suitable. It is not a detailed landscape design or specific plant selection… that is the next stage if you decide you need further design work and assistance. The cost of the initial onsite consultation and subsequent follow-up notes and the draft design (the ‘mud map’) is capped at $500 + gst. Plus, travel time if the property is outside the Port Macquarie Hastings LGA. We service areas throughout the mid north coast of NSW. A remote design consultation is available worldwide. You may want to go a step further and request a more detailed design proposal which you can use to obtain quotes for the work.
Having a clear understanding of what you want to finally achieve (and an agreed plan) allows the project to be broken down to stages if required due to budgets or time. With a landscape design in place it doesn’t matter if the project is built over 3 months or 3 years, the continuity is kept and the outdoor areas pieced together with cohesion.
By having a subsequent detailed landscape design, you can compare ‘apple with apples’ when it comes to receiving quotes from different companies as all the relevant details needed for an accurate quote will be included.
Depending on the workload of Signature Landscapes and your timeline we may also be able to provide a construction and planting quote. Or, if you want to employ your own contractors we may be able to project manage the landscaping and source materials and plants, this way plant quality and design integrity is preserved.
What next? To arrange an onsite consultation, contact Signature Landscapes and we will be in touch to arrange a suitable time.
